HERE’S WHAT OUR RETURNING CLIENTS HAVE TO SAY:
Gerry Stevens – Flotilla May 2011 I just thought I’d drop you a wee line to tell you what a great time we had. The boat was fantastic, the lead crew were extremely helpful friendly and professional and made our holiday that bit special. I’ll definitely be back!
Susan Dennehy – Flotilla June 2011 When we 'learned to sail' last year, Jack had recently joined as the flotilla engineer and this year he was the flotilla skipper. My partner and I were so impressed with him as skipper I felt it was appropriate to write to let you know what a superb job he is doing for Setsail. Whilst there was nothing to complain about last year, the flotilla team this year were absolutely fantastic. They were more welcoming, attentive to everyone's differing needs, friendly and jovial yet serious when necessary. Nothing was too much trouble for either Jack, Jess or Tom. They were all willing to help graciously at any time of the day. Jack as leader must take the responsibility for motivating, directing and leading the team and is doing it well. It is great that at a time when jobs for younger people are so hard to come by that you have given Jack an opportunity to take on such a responsible role and you should be proud of what he, Jess and Tom has achieved for Setsail.
Ray Morris – Flotilla July 2011 We’ve just returned from 2 weeks on the Lycian Flotilla in Turkey. We had a fantastic time. The boat was sound, the wind was good and consistent, the locations were superb and the lead crew marvellous – a great mix of professionalism and relaxed friendliness (I don’t know how they manage it at such a young age!). Well found. We are already planning a return visit.
Donald Wright – Flotilla July 2011 We had a wonderful holiday in Turkey on board ‘Louise’, a Beneteau 331. The local support team were so enthusiastic, friendly and helpful. Thanks to Jess, Tom, Andy, Jack & Ben.
The Lomax Family – Flotilla July 2011 We got back from our Lycian flotilla last Monday, and I just wanted to let you know that it was an absolutely lovely holiday - all I had expected and more! The area was, of course, stunning, providing a lovely mix of rustic and more sophisticated mooring venues. The winds were stronger than forecast, providing overall better sailing for longer periods each day. The boat was lovely - in great condition and we really enjoyed sailing her. Most of all, I would like to commend you on your choice of lead crew - they were a superb group. They managed to engage equally well with the young and old on the flotilla, and, crucially, to inspire respect based on their evident experience and expertise, along with being relaxed and very personable. They provided just the right amount of support, when needed, which could vary from day to day depending on the itinerary. We enjoyed the fact that our sailing each day was done largely independently, rather than feeling like ducklings following a mother duck, but that the evenings were extremely sociable, and all arranged for us in advance by Jess. Thanks again for a hugely enjoyable fortnight.
John Mason – Bareboat, Turkey July 2011 We had a fantastic 2 weeks sailing out of Bodrum. Many thanks for all your efforts in arranging what was a superb holiday.
Peter Fell - Learn to Sail August 2011 I have just returned from a wonderful week on the Day Skippers course. Please pass on my thanks to Jack, Jess, Tom and especially Andy for a wonderful weeks sailing. I will definitely recommend you to others.
Conrad Pizey – Bareboat Croatia, August 2011 Trogir was a great place to start and finish as only a short distance from the airport and thanks to some very helpful staff we managed to sail in the early afternoon up the coast to Vinisce. The next day we headed off to Hvar and ended up in what was one of our favourite stops, Luka Vela Garska. It was supposed to be a 'no facilities' anchorage, but there was a brand new restaurant with lazy lines and great food. That night the starscape was vivid and magnificent - strange to think that we were just a mile and a half from Hvar town with its super yachts, discos and beautiful people. Scedro and the Pakleni Islands were similar stops - just a few yachts and the occasional rustic restaurant, just how we like it. We took it very easy, no long passages or early starts but still ended up visiting 6 islands. Even though it was August there was plenty of choice and the nights were cool enough to sleep. Every day was calm at first with a good breeze coming up in the late morning. The single cloud we saw was on the last day, heading back to the airport. This was our third time bareboating with Setsail on the Dalmatian coast. Each time we've been able to follow completely different routes, discover new, beautiful bays and harbours. We're finding it a very hard place to resist.
Jan Dodd & Stephen Eckett – Learn to Sail September 2011 We just got back from our holiday and wanted to let you know what a great time we had. Good, steady winds, nice places to moor up and sunshine all the way. Perfect! Andy was a very good instructor, too. Patient, helpful and good company. We learnt lots of new tips and tricks and are now both proud possessors of our day-skipper practical certificates. It was nice to meet Jack again, and to meet Heather. They all worked very hard to make sure we had a good time. PS We are already wondering where to go next year!
Carolyn Hayward – Bareboat, Turkey September 2011 Just back from a fantastic holiday at Gocek, thank you for organising everything so well, we all had a lovely time and found the ground crew very helpful and nice to deal with. We will definitely recommend your company to other travellers. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Richard & Nici Gaunt – Learn to Sail on flotilla, Turkey, May 2010 Just to say that we have successfully returned to UK after a truly fantastic 2 weeks in the company of the Setsail Turkish flotilla. Post some initial trials and tribulations (on the sailing front - but all down to us) we finally began to see clear water and advanced our abilities to original unforeseeable levels - both of us ending up with Day Skipper - non Tidal certification. The Setsail team were brilliant being calm, knowledgeable, and willing (and perhaps more importantly - wanting) to share their obvious enthusiasm for sailing with us without any dogma or arrogance.
Lilla Gazzard – Flotilla May 2010 I have finally given up holding onto my flip flops and Turkey Time to report that we had a fabulous time and have found at least half a dozen reasons for doing it again next year!
Steve Lunn and Jude Leak - Learn to Sail on flotilla, Turkey, June 2010 Jude and I both had a great holiday in Turkey and the training went well. Ben lived up to your hype and is an excellent instructor. He has vast knowledge of all sailing related matters, we asked him to concentrate improving our practical sailing ability and we both learned lots. Please pass on our thanks to the whole team.
Sue & John Cutfield – Flotilla June 2010 We have just returned to New Zealand after 7 weeks in the UK, finishing up with a week on your Panormous flotilla cruise. Paul was an excellent flotilla leader, wise, considerate and immensely patient. Ray provided capable back up and together with Carly worked hard for the flotilla's enjoyment. Carly was always positive and loads of fun. The weather gods played their part in giving us a great week away in the Greek Islands, the fulfilment of a childhood dream.
James and Pip Crowley – Flotilla July 2010 I just wanted to drop you a quick email to say what a fantastic two weeks we have just had. The whole experience of Setsail has been excellent and I would strongly recommend you to anybody. We enjoyed it so much we are already talking about doing Turkey next year.
Nigel & Sally Mottershead – Flotilla August 2010 Just a short note to say thanks very much for the holiday which we have just returned from with Setsail in the Sporades. We had a fantastic time on your boat – Fandango and which was also out honeymoon. Sally and I both feel very lucky to have booked with Setsail as the attention to detail during our holiday was absolutely first class and much of this was down to the crew on the lead boat – Paul, Carly and Ray who all went out of their way to make us feel safe and cared for.
Simon Goddard – Flotilla July 2010 Thank you for another great holiday. Excellent week. Lovely to have the opportunity to visit new ports and the National Park with the flotilla. Iain & Sharon were professional and great company.
Anne & Terry Monnington & Pete & Anne Bissell – Flotilla August 2010 Thank you and all your team for another wonderful holiday in Croatia. We cannot thank Iain and Sharon enough for looking after us so well on our recent holiday, what with Iain's professionalism, nothing seemed to faze him, and how hard Sharon worked to make sure our evening meals ashore meals were a success. We liked the pretty town quays and villages and the evening stops on the free sail days in secluded bays, everything was so relaxing. Eva was spotlessly clean and well equipped; she did us proud on the windy sailing days, a delight to sail. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ron Archer – Learn to sail on flotilla in Turkey, May 2009 We recently returned from a weeks holiday/training with your team in Turkey. Could I just record what a truly fantastic team you have in place there. We had always promised ourselves that we would try to learn how to sail, but as complete novices to sailing, we were all amazed at how quickly, Iain, our instructor knocked us into shape. He has a tremendous amount of patience coupled with an excellent sense of humour. Your jovial staff, a week of fantastic weather & some very affable people on the other yachts made for a thoroughly memorable holiday. PS my wife was also very happy with your staff in the UK, every question she asked was very quickly & thoroughly addressed. If only all holidays were this well organised.
Alan Justice – flotilla in Turkey, May 2009 On behalf of Lucy's crew I would like to thank you for another wonderful Setsail flotilla holiday, now our third. We all felt this exceeded the pleasure of the Lycian in 2002 and Dalmatian in 2005 not least owing to the lead crew who were all fantastic. Your selection process for the "Setsail" character is just spot on and gives the average sailor the blend of instruction and support together with relaxed freedom which makes for a real holiday.
The Kelly Family – flotilla in Turkey, June 2009 Just got back this morning from our 2 week flotilla holiday in Turkey. Just to say we had an absolutely fantastic time, mainly due to the professionalism of the wonderful crew. Their support, friendliness and care throughout the two weeks never faltered once. I have been on a flotiila holiday before but the professionalism and service demonstrated by the Setsail lead crew was of a completely different level. We all have never learnt so much whilst still having so much fun! Each bay was more beautiful than the last, the food was great and the company always interesting. Members of the lead crew were always on hands to offer advice, discuss problems or simply to review our progress over a cold beer after a great day’s sailing.
Pete & Anne Bissell, Terry & Anne Monnington – flotilla August 2009 We know that it is only 9 days ago when we were all enjoying ourselves, but we have to make do with the photos to remind us of those hot, sunny and very restful days. Thanks again for your help, support and company on the flotilla. As I commented at the end of the meal, after 11 flotillas we were genuinely able to say that this year's was the best yet. We had a great time and will, almost certainly, be going back for more next year - though not sure where as yet.
Martin Woodhouse & Sally Meecham – flotilla June 2009 Just thought I'd drop you a line to thank you for arranging such a splendid holiday once again. The weather was beautiful and the lead crew were again fantastic. They were always there if you needed them but stayed at arms length, allowing you the freedom to make your own decisions and learn from experience. The brilliant learn-to-sail course we did in Turkey last year (thank you once again Iain) has now got us totally hooked!
David Wells - Sail & Stay June 2009 Just a note to say many thanks for organising our sail and stay holiday in Croatia. We had the most fantastic time, both on the boat and in our apartment. The Setsail team were fantastic throughout, thanks to you for setting this up, special thanks to the flotilla team who looked after us so well and joined in (and often instigated) all of the fun. Also thanks to the transit staff who picked us up and dropped us at the airport, boat and apartment – they were all a credit Setsail. We are all keen to do another holiday of this type and, rest assured, that we will come to Setsail first.
The Boxall Family – flotilla August 2009 Just to let you know that we had an amazing flotilla holiday in Croatia. The lead crew were so helpful and patient with us. They were professional and well organised, as well as being great fun and pleasant to be around. Iain in particular is an absolute gem, instilling such confidence in any situation and always so calm and non-judgemental. We loved Croatia and have returned home full of stories of our adventures and feel as if we have had a most memorable holiday. We met some lovely people on the flotilla and can't quite believe that we packed so much into two weeks. Thanks for all your help in organising it for us, we had a such an amazing time. We would certainly book with you again and will recommend Setsail to our friends. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anne Monnington, Flotilla Turkey, August 2008 The holiday was everything we had been told it would be and even more, it was so relaxing, the winds favourable, the sailing a delight, the lunchtime stops quiet and the evening stops a good time to catch up with the other flotilla sailors to chat about their day. The boat was in superb condition and had all the gizmos and the men found it a joy to sail. The weather since being home has been dreadful and I cannot believe that I am wishing I was back in 40ºC, and swimming in a nice bay, roll on next year.
Lee Stacey, Learn to Sail Turkey, October 2008 We’re all exhausted from the intense learning and maybe a late night or two, but thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience from start to finish, which was in no small part due to your team. In terms of the tuition, Iain’s enthusiasm for sailing was infectious, his patience endless and his aptitude for teaching totally natural. The three of us are not wallflowers in everyday life and yet nerves and unfamiliarity left us struggling at times and feeling vaguely silly at others, so having a calm and knowledgeable instructor was a godsend.
The Collingwood family, Flotilla July 2008 We have just got home and started the unpacking! I find people are quick to complain and slow to praise, so I am sending this message of thanks. We have had a really nice holiday, the place was good, the boat good, the trip there and back was good. But your staff were great, from the meeting at the airport to the send off. Many thanks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A brief discription of sevices we offer:
Flotilla Sailing Our flotilla holidays in Turkey, with their reliable winds and sunshine provide a balance of freedom and support, run in a relaxed style by our own staff. The Lycian flotilla normally consists of up to 12 yachts accompanied by a lead yacht and runs from mid May through to October.
On arrival our staff are there to meet you and show you to your yacht. They help you to settle in and explain how everything works! That evening you have a chance to meet everyone on the flotilla when you get together for a welcome drink at a local bar. Each morning our lead crew give a briefing: the skipper and engineer run through the sailing area, weather conditions and navigation, and will suggest one or two good spots to anchor for lunch. Our hostess can advise you on stocking up with provisions, the best places to eat, historical sites to visit, and the local facilities ashore. The day is then yours to sail on to the next destination, where the lead crew will help you moor up for your overnight stay. Then spend a pleasant evening socialising in a small taverna or restaurant overlooking the harbour.
Bareboat Charter Ideal for the more experienced, allowing complete freedom to plan your own itinerary. Flights are not included but can be quoted on request.
Skippered Charter Relax and enjoy the sailing experience in the safe hands of a professional skipper.
Learn to Sail Take an RYA course in the sun, then add an extra week to test your skills with the support on our Turkish flotilla.
