Cruising Area
Orhaniye At the head of the Dorian Gulf lies Orhaniye. This picturesque bay is guarded by a Byzantine Fortress on the island in the middle of the fjord - A delightful setting in which to commence or complete your holiday. The yachts are moored on the eastern shore of Keci Buku in Marti Marina. There is one restaurant with bar, swimming pool and shaded chillout area for those moored in the marina.
Selimiye A charming village embraced by hills and set in a magnificent bay. There are a handful of shops including a bakery and mini market. The best of the restaurants is Aurora, run by Suzannah and Hussein who will afford you a fantastic welcome.
Dirsek Dine in the restaurant set in this quiet, almost land locked cove. Alternatively, enjoy a drink on the terrace and then eat aboard alfresco!
Bozburun Nestling among inlets and bays, Bozburun is an ancient sponge fishing town - its high minaret tells you that you are journeying beyond the realms of Christendom.
Datca A thriving, traditional harbour which despite its remoteness, was once the capital of the Dorian principality. Today, Datca is known for its attractive bazaar with carpet and pottery shops, restaurants and quayside cafes.
Bozuk Buku A bay of many coves with a choice of shoreside restaurants. Explore the ancient citadel of Loryma, a pleasant walk from the main anchorage.
Ciftlik An almost perfect natural harbour with a lovely sandy beach - The ancient ruins are worth exploring or just relax at one of the waterfront bars!
Turunc & Kumlu Buku Just beyond the bay of Marmaris lies Turunc Buku, a small beach resort. Visit the Yacht Club with its rather exclusive restaurant, or dine at the ‘Chinese’ restaurant in the neighbouring bay of Kumlu Buku, which despite its name, offers both traditional Turkish cuisine and a wide selection of other menus.
Marmaris The busy port of Marmaris sits at the head of an enclosed bay reached through a narrow entrance embraced by rolling, pine clad hills. It is the main centre of tourism and yachting on the southern coast of Turkey and excellent facilities are available within the marina.
Ekincik Stop in Ekincik for an extra day and visit the Dalyan river , Ancient Caunos, the rock tombs and maybe sample the mud baths and hot springs then have a leisurely lunch at a riverside restaurant before exploring the spice market at Dalyan Village.
Kapi Creek A safe anchorage tucked in the southwest corner of the Fethiye Bay. Good, simple fayre and wonderful hospitality.
Cold Water Bay Fed by fresh water springs, this pirates cove is discovered in the small concealed bay after Gemiler Island. A great place to cool off and sample the famous barbequed food cooked on the beach or in the cliff top restaurant. Look out at the fantastic views across the coast to Olu Deniz.
Sarsala With its terraced restaurant offering pide (Turkish pizza), fantastic snorkelling, excellent phosphorescence for those swimming at night and pleasant walks through wooded slopes to take in the idyllic scenery.
The full cruise takes a fortnight starting at alternate ends of the cruising route. You could opt for a one week holiday which starts or finishes at the port of Marmaris.
